June Daniel, Paddy Walker Heritage Society Director, hosted Keith Davidson of the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band and other community friends at a special New Year's Day gathering in Walker House. Keith stopped in as part of his special commerative march that began with the ringing of the bell at the old Town Hall 100 times at noon, in honour of the 100th Anniversary of the KSPB that will be celebrated throughout 2008. From the old Town Hall Keith continued to 786 Queen St., presently home to Condor Books but at one time, back in 1908, was the first practice hall for William Young's pipe band, the original Scottish. After the presentation of a plaque that identifies these roots, Keith continued to The Royal Canadian Legion and the annual Mayor's Levee. Many of these guests, include Mayor Larry Kraemer, then followed Keith to Walker House where June provided "a wee dram and Scottish shortbread". The Paddy Walker Heritage Society congratulates the Kincardine Scottish Pipe Band on its milestone and acknowledges its many contributions to our rich heritage these 100 years.
